The Seattle City Council Tuesday reauthorized the use of blast balls, pepper spray, and pepper by police for crowd-control purposes, despite the objections of people who said they were impacted by those non-lethal weapons during the 2020 racial justice protests.
“Non-lethal” should really say less lethal, since the can and do kill. Especially when they are intentionally misused as they so often are.
Also remember that if a protestor picks up one of these “non-lethal crowd control measures” and throws it back at the police, they get charged with Assault With a Deadly Weapon.
