Yep, I was reluctantly but actively moderating an NSFW subreddit when it was banned for being unmoderated.
If it’s back, I’m just gonna drop it I think. I tried moving it to LemmyNSFW once, but in that time, they started getting really hostile to adult art communities, so I gave up on that.
LemmyNSFW admins have been hostile to adult art communities from the start. I (very) briefly set up a community over there when the instance spun up, but shut it down when the admins started to get snotty and proscriptive publicly. Some of it I understand, because it’s a thorny legal environment, but that’s all the more reason to want to be somewhere where I feel like the admins have my back.
I would probably just rent an instance if I was a mod or creator and just host my community there. I think its understandable that federated admins are much more cautious due to the well known tactic of shooting a „politically foreign“ instance down for other - easier to prove and get away with - reasons.
I host my own instance and its not a huge project in itself but I would never host any community for someone else that even has the remote chance of getting me in hot water, legally. Especially because of my vocal political leaning. I‘m perfectly able to get myself into hot water.
