Lifelong football enjoyer here, but I can no longer stomach the NFL anymore. I realize the league is, and has always been, an entertainment business but they don’t even bother hiding the massaging anymore. Yes, but more because of the gathering of friends and less because the game is on. I’d prefer neither team win (I’ll be watching with a lot of Eagles fans, and as a Titans fan, I don’t want anyone being happy). Idk if I’d say the CFP stole the spotlight either, I’m almost certain the Superbowl always gets way more viewers than any other sporting event. NFL is just really leaning into narratives for casual viewers because they know NFL fans are gonna watch regardless.
