There’s a setting for that. It’s open invite or admin invite. Default is open invite.

Doubtful any of the participants knew that, though.

That stuff isn’t instantly done. Speed of paperwork and government can take days if not weeks. Famous people get carefully announced precisely so some joker can’t reveal it and cause chaos for the surviving family.

Read the comma as a period instead of an “and.” Makes more sense that way.
