Well basically Reddit kept doing two things. One, NOT doing anything about blatant botting, dogpiling, and brigading even on huge subreddits. Every thread about certain topics would get over a thousand comments all swinging one exact direction, it was extremely blatant. Any thread about Israel or pit bulls would get instantly brigaded and calling for the death of palestinians/pits in extremely violent ways and Reddit did nothing every time. And two, I kept getting banned for HINTING at fighting back against the current wave of fascism. Not to mention, the API support being killed AND the CEO of Reddit being an Elon Musk simp were also nails in the coffin of it for me.

Plus the environment of people posting constant ragebait was not doing favors to my mental health.

But Batman DOES uses his billions to help Gotham. The problem is that most of his rogues gallery is composed of high ranking rich mafia bosses, and the rest are completely insane individuals (or even sane people who just LIKE being evil for no reason like Scarecrow who literally gasses people until they die of fright just to study their reactions). You can’t possibly think bribing the Joker with a billion dollars would stop him from bombing orphanages, gassing entire neighborhoods, or LITERALLY NUKING AN ENTIRE CITY.

Investing money into Gotham isn’t gonna stop the Penguin or Black Mask from running protection rackets or bribing cops, it won’t stop Poison Ivy from commiting literal ecoterrorism, and it won’t stop Victor Zsasz from gutting people to death with knives, or Deadshot from assassinating people.

Oh, and another thing: the city is actually fucking cursed with evil black magic. That’s not hyperbole. The city literally makes people evil.

Again, I ask: Why are you surprised that literal anti-capitalists hate billionaires?

I mean, if you wanted to be in the literal anarchist social media network structure and not see people hating billionaires/politicians/nazis, why did you come here in the first place?

The entire concept of the Fediverse is anarchist. Of course anti-capitalists at large would be on it, because the capitalists are all over every other social media network. And besides, Tumblr constantly tells billionaires/politicians to die despite being corporate-run social media and literally nothing comes out of it.

He’s explicitly talking about detracting people who are “violent” and call him a “bootlicker” for “deescalating”. It seems like it’s moderator speak for “people are saying politicians/billionaires should die and that personally offends me”. It’s enlightened centrism. People came to Lemmy explicitily because Reddit bans you for disliking billionaires now.

Like, the entire concept of the Fediverse is anarchist. It’s a collection of decentralized servers who can connect to each other but have their own rules. Someone going to develop for the LITERAL ANARCHIST SOCIAL MEDIA STRUCTURE and then getting surprised that everyone on it is anti-capitalist and anti-billionaire is the epitome of arrogance and lack of self-awareness.

This is one of the reasons I left Reddit (that and getting banned multiple times in a row). At some point I realized it wasn’t worth it anymore.

Worldnews is the most astroturfed pro-Israel subreddit in the entire site. Anything that talks about Israel-Palestine has hundreds of Mossad trolls working overtime. The only time you’ll see a post in Worldnews being anti-Israel is if the thing being talked about is so damn egregious that the trolls can’t brute force positivity on it. Like the time when someone revealed Israel was using AI to target people and that it was acceptable to kill 100 civilians to get rid of one senior Hamas member.

Being bad towards shitty people is a different beast from being bad towards everyone because you assume the worst out of everyone.

Righteous outrage is addicting, but it’s also extremely fucking draining. I left reddit because I’d constantly rage bait myself every day and it was destroying my relationships.

Well, your experience isn’t universal. Most people aren’t like you described.

Maybe you need a change of environment.

You’d be wrong. I’m sorry that you feel this way about humanity, but that is simply not true. And believing that won’t make you a “smart” person. It makes you’re no better than those people, and it also makes you feel worse.

It might be satisfying in the moment to hate humanity, but that satisfaction is fleeting and addicting. Being a misanthrope just brings the worst version of yourself out.

Maybe, but it also means that you’ll be alone for eternity and will never have true friends or camaraderie, and that by itself will consume you.

There is only so many people you can do that to before everyone else catches on and shuns you. All the evil people in the world don’t have any friends and are subject to betrayals and threats in their lives constantly. To me, that’s not a bearable existence. Sure, you got power, but you’re miserable and afraid all the time. Was that really worth it?

I usually book an appointment. Appear on the proper day. Get my exams done, leave, no money spent. If it’s like a screening for something that can be done in a public health clinic, I’ll go, spend about 30 mins to one hour waiting, talk to the doc, get whatever prescriptions they give me, get discharged and go home, no money spent.
