Usually you’re right, Commercials are only annoying. The Super Bowl USED to be the exception, where companies would go all out to make something entertaining enough to be memorable. That was where the good ideas, the creative productions, would be found. If you believe there is any reality in which a commercial can be entertaining to watch, the Super Bowl was where you would find it. I’ve been to Super Bowl watch parties in which the entire crowd would go quiet just to catch the commercials. They were absolutely an entertaining part of the experience, and if you didn’t especially care about football they were easily the best part.

These days, though, not so much. These days it seems like the popular approach is just to find whatever celebrity will draw the most attention, and any form of creativity is secondary at best.

I have mixed feelings about that, because on the one hand I fucking hate that festering pustule that is Alex Jones and I absolutely revel in him being objectively wrong all the fucking time.

Remember that we’re not allowed to call for violence, but it’s okay when Elon does things like this, because allowing industry to poison whole towns isn’t violence, it’s just capitalism.

It’s obvious why they’re suddenly obsessed with Raw Milk. It’s the same reason they were suddenly Anti-Vax, anti-Mask, and anti-plague-control.

Democrats said a thing, Republicans immediately reply with the opposite.

Democrats said Vaccines prevent disease, Republicans declared vaccines are poison. Democrats said wearing a mask can reduce the transmission of airborne pathogens, Republicans said masks will kill you and are illegal now. Democrats said “Don’t drink raw milk, it can transmit deadly diseases.” Republicans declare “You can take the raw milk from my cold dead hands.”

I honestly expect that if Democrats released a PSA against jumping off cliffs onto jagged rocks, because the fall could be dangerous, Republicans would immediately start taking picture standing on the edges of cliffs with the caption of “Don’t tell me what to do.”
