He won’t be found liable for misconduct, but I don’t think you can wriggle out of providing reasons (eventually). Those reasons are mostly going to be provided post hoc, potentially in secret, and not adequately convince anyone, but I do think they’ll choose to comply here rather than trigger more wars with the court system. This is an opportunity for them to broadcast that the SC is on their side too, get liberals riled up, but still follow the law so the liberals will be painted as reactive. All part of the bombardment plan.
The only people who I feel are doing what they can so far are progressives. Party leadership has given little to no indication of even having a dog in the fight. Sanders sent an awesome email detailing the exact issues and class consciousness being the solution, I just don’t think many liberals even want class conscious any more than fascists do.
I can’t believe anyone still thinks Schumer is making a real political calculus based on harm reduction. He’s literally never reduced harm to anyone but party elites. Get the fuck out of the way old bitch and utilize the power of the courts before there’s only the executive. I legit feel like his reflex to play the victim while doing nothing is going to continue to his own death without a hint of regret.
Schumer is setting up a rake for Republicans to walk into, so I don’t know why the title is so miseading, but taking the exact same playbook where you have to play chicken with narcissists who have already outlived the purpose in the fascist party if they’re not willing to crash isn’t going to go well for Dems. They need to take real actions and get a leader who can shout louder than half measured dickheads with no imagination.
While it’s undoubtedly true the corruption goes further than Rod, it has never been worse than selling a senate seat vacated by a sitting president. Also, a conservative thinktank isn’t where I prefer to read about history.
Pardoning Rod and now this, I sure hope all this greenlighting of corrupt individuals will lower my egg prices.
It’s wild how the same people who plant “Pritzker sucks” signs in their yard gladly gets behind Trump, who puts a big rubber stamp on the worst governor in recent memory. The running joke among them is Illinois is the most corrupt state and it’s almost entirely because of Rod… The cognitive dissonance is astounding.
You’re only the “bad guy” for lashing out when it’s not called for and doubling down, but I ain’t your momma. Go off queen.
It seems like Elon is controlling Trump even in this. Isn’t devaluing to swing markets an Elon move? He probably wants to sell a bunch of stock and simply trying to crash the EV market wasn’t enough if a wave for him to become the first trillionaire. Crashing the dollar it is I guess?
Something most people don’t get is that China holding a significant portion of our debt gives them an incentive to protect USD. By defaulting, there is no reason for them not to do everything in their power to destroy USD. This is literally the only meaningful economic tool the US has and he wants to devalue it.
Brother, he’s from Lemmy.ca and is speaking about it like it’s been the case for a while. It’s okay to misread a situation without blaming someone else.
I was thinking something along the lines of it being obvious that without his support he wouldn’t have won. Trump usually just says stuff but that one might ring hollow if Elon had more of a voice to refute it. Trump tends to only pick fights he can win with his audience, he learned his lesson about the vaccines that there are at least a few things they won’t follow him into.
It seems to me like Trump can’t reign him in any more. Whether that’s because Elon has dirt, because Elon has effectively stolen the bully pulpit, or because Elon has the Joe Roegan crown, it’s at least clear that Trump is biding his time hoping the Elon chaos will present an opportunity to covertly regain power, but as it is there’s nothing in sight. He’s opened the government to more corruption in the first week than Grant’s entire presidency.
His position is going to rapidly transition from ignoring subpoenas to “You and what army?” To “the bar association are traitors” to “we’ll set up an executive branch element with tribunals” and his whole job is to bark these things behind Trump’s leash to make the courts treat the cabinet with kid gloves.
In all liklihood, this is a ploy to sell and rebuy tesla stocks to become the world’s first trillionaire faster than the other robber barons who have achieved the green light from America’s fascist movement.
Getting 1600 calla, or are they SLAMMED with calls? Well I guess we’ll know whether calls matter after this.
How exactly is there such a thing as a records system not subject to FOIA?
I don’t think this is a meaningful test because actually creating stuff for the money you get isn’t required when you have the power to devalue USD and your own companies’ stocks. This is literally the only reason he surpassed the other tech bros in wealth accumulation: market manipulation.
