You pay…no way around that. Google has rigged the search in the store, you will never get a good search location unless you pay.

Not quiet, the difference is in how excessive it is with Chinese industry compared to VC backed capitalist counterparts.

The cost seems pretty obvious TBH…they’re subsidising their car industry to a much higher degree than European and American countries in order to achieve a greater market share and by extension control of large foreign car consumer markets. Given enough time, they will capture significant market shares in these markets due to artificially low prices outside of regular market competition.

There’s of course also the general increased security risk of the Chinese government being plugged in to all the companies making these cars with black box software and always connected to the internet.

AR that just doesn’t suck ass would be welcome even without price drops. We’ve had some projects where we tried to use AR glasses for interactive maintenance assistance. They died not because of bulky gear but because resolution and clarity was absolutely shit.

Wild…we don’t have them on outlet-basis, it’s the entire house that’s protected by them, they’re installed at the power-inlet to the house so everything is protected by it. And they’re mandatory even on old houses.

It’s a bad idea either to go touching live wires either way, but the rule of thumb I heard was was that a 110V shock usually won’t kill you and 220V shock usually will.

That’s completely incorrect though. I’ve been shocked by 230VAC at least a dozen times, if not more. And the fuse for the circuit absolutely should not be the limiter, the RCCB should trip WAY before the main fuse.

Key thing here being that they’re old…there are limits to how much power electrical equipment is allowed to consume in standby mode (at least in the EU) today, it’s not allowed to consume more than 0.5W in standby mode, 0.8W if it has a status display.

There’s a reason we talk about lethal current and not lethal voltage…30mA can kill you, even at something ridiculously low as 9V, but 5-10kV will not necessarily kill you, e.g. fences for horses will not kill you if you’re electrocuted by them because there’s basically no amperage. Voltage is not the determining factor in lethalness.

110 is probably better in terms of general safety

Eh, not really. There is no significant difference in safety between 110vac and 230vac. Voltage is not the (most) dangerous part, it’s the amps that kill if you’re electrocuted.

You just need to avoid peak evening hours to avoid overloading the grid, and a timer set to start at 1am solves this perfectly fine.

Depending on where you live, night time is also lowest load on the grid.
