The MIT engineers agree. They said something to the effect of “If you could make a robotic bee, it wouldn’t replace bees. It would be a terrible idea to try to use them for pollination… Just put that same amount of finding into conservation and researching bees, you would have a much better result.”

Oh… I see the misunderstanding. You see, in this governmental system, we have three branches, one is the legislative (this is congress, they make the laws), another is the executive branch, (that’s what your party is making a mockery of right now), and the third is the judicial branch (that’s the courts, they make sure everything is actually legal). So you see, yes, they are supposed to be there, it’s part of the design…
I guess they should have just borrowed them from the library.
To be honest, here’s the difference: Lemmy has fewer voices. That’s mostly it.
I think there’s less trolling and fewer bots, but it’s not by a lot and that’s just for now. If Lemmy gains popularity, it will get just as much negative attention, the main difference will be in moderation.
You should care. We should all care.
The big problem we have in this country isn’t just a radical right, it’s extreme divisiveness. Foreign and corporate powers have done their best to divide the US populace and pit us against each other. Why? Because that makes us easier to control, easier to manipulate, easier to deceive, easier to advertise to. And one of the keys goals they have is a complete breakdown of communication. At this point we’re essentially speaking two different languages and don’t even understand each other any more. As soon as you stop talking to the other side, you’re letting the corpos and the despots win, because that’s what they want. If you don’t even care what the other side thinks, you’re essentially giving up on the whole idea of these “United” States (and you’re wandering ever closer toward another civil war).
Why not both?
