U.S. President Donald Trump on Feb. 12 held phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying that negotiations to end the war in Ukraine will start “immediately.”

. . .

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on the same day that it is unrealistic to expect Ukraine to restore its 2014 borders in any negotiations with Moscow on ending the war.

He also said that NATO membership for Ukraine is off the table.

Following the most recent comments by U.S. top officials, Kyiv will most likely be pressured by Washington to make concessions to Russia.

Ukraine will likely refuse to recognize any of the occupied territories as Russian de jure, reduce its army, legalize any openly pro-Russian political project, or officially abandon aspirations to join NATO, experts say.

Other clauses may be more palatable for Kyiv.

Original borders, NATO membership, and the return of nuclear weapons. Fuck Russia and their agent Trump. Get out of Ukraine.
